Renewing your WA driver's licence

WA driver's licences will expire after one or five years, depending on the licence fee that you paid. Your photograph and signature will also need to be updated every 10 years.

When your licence is due to expire, the Department of Transport will send you a renewal notice by post or you can elect to receive your notice electronically. This notice will include important information such as:

  • the expiry date; and,
  • whether a photograph and/or signature is required.

You can renew your licence as early as six months before the expiry date.

Learner's permits

Learner's permits cannot be renewed.

If your permit expires you will need to apply for a new learner's permit.

Step 1: Prepare proof of identity (if required)
